Hard Mix’s new song “The Well Chant” was commissioned for The Paper Industry theater company’s “ugly opera,” Apologies (and other grey areas), which explores human emotion through quantum physics’ Schrödinger’s multiple-realitied cat and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle (that we can’t ever really know what’s going on). It’s a natural fit listening to “The Well Chant” with an eye to the cosmos, the cascading loops like parts of a mysterious superstructure, the human/not-human vocal samples like hums of bored angels. Apologies runs December 1-17 at the Incubator Arts Project inside St. Mark’s Church.
